Internships

At Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly, Chicago Chapter students from around the world and all over the country are provided with opportunities for learning that are as diverse as the elders we serve and the programs we offer.

Just some of the majors which fit with our programs include Art Therapy, French, Gerontology, Nursing, Marketing, Pre-Med, Psychology, Public Relations, Sociology, and Spanish.

Types of Internships

A Year of Service: Volunteer Program Assistant
A one-year, full-time or part-time commitment. As a Volunteer Program Assistant, you ensure that our elders have a relationship with a compassionate person. This is a unique experience to discover the real needs of older adults and make fulfilling intergenerational friendships that often continue on beyond your service.

Intergenerational Visiting Program Intern
A four- to 12-month commitment, 5 to 10 hours per week. Requires effective communication and the ability to establish meaningful relationships with six or more elders. You will gain experience in the field of aging and make new friends by participating in social activities alongside elders and volunteers.

Art Program Assistant
A one-year, full-time commitment. The main responsibility of the Art Program Assistant will be to create and develop art activities for family visiting, homebound elders, Intergenerational Programs and the Creative Cafe. You will also be responsible for reaching out to elders in friendship and celebration of life. This is a unique experience to discover the real needs of older adults.
