A bequest is a form of giving accomplished by including a few sentences in your will or living trust. If you’ve already created your will, your estate planning attorney can easily make an amendment, called a codicil.
The suggested bequest language for Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly, Chicago Chapter is: I give to Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly, Chicago Chapter, an Illinois non-profit organization, whose present address is 355 N. Ashland Chicago, Illinois, and its successors forever, the sum of $___ (or a percentage of the estate) (or the description of property or stock, etc.) to be used in such a manner as its Board of Directors determines.”
A bequest may be modified or revoked at any point in your lifetime.
