How to Sign Up

The gift of your time and friendship will make an important difference in the lives of our lonely and isolated elders. For many of them, our volunteers and staff are their only family.

If you haven’t done so already, take a look at our Volunteer Opportunities to see the variety of ways you can help bring joy into the lives of lonely seniors.

The nature of our activities allows you to volunteer as frequently as you wish and there are opportunities both during the week and on weekends.

There are two simple steps to becoming a volunteer:

Step 1.   Attend an orientation at our office located at 355 N. Ashland Ave., Chicago, IL.

We have two orientations per month.  The daytime orientation takes place from 11am to 12:30pm; the evening orientation takes place from 6:30pm to 8pm.

Please call us at 312.455.1000 or contact us via email or postal mail to obtain the schedule of upcoming orientations.  We'll sign you up for the next date and time that is convenient to you.

Step 2.   Complete a background check  (Information provided at the orientation.)

See how you can make a difference in the lives of our elders. Thanks for your interest in Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly and we look forward to hearing from you very soon.

It's important to give back to the community

"...Volunteering with LBFE I can visit elders in my area. The home office is not too far from my home. I choose where and who I visit.”

Elinah Achusim, Implementation Specialist

“LBFE Chicago is my second family. I called in 1991 to volunteer. The staff person was so pleasant and welcoming when she recruited me to drive.  The rest is history. It is one the best aspects of my life.”

Kay M. Leane, Executive
