Volunteer Social: Wrapping & Wine
May is Older Americans' Month and the YPAB is hosting a Volunteer Social for new/prospective volunteers. LBFE celebrates every elder's birthday - & we have 1,100 gifts to wrap!!! The YPAB invites young professionals to join us for food, wine, socializing & gift wrapping.

Give a Friend a Lift - Transportation Matching Grant!
Transportation isn't just a matter of getting from point A to point B. It's not a luxury. For seniors who can no longer drive or whose bodies are failing as they age, it's all about freedom, independence, and staying connected with friends and the surrounding community.
Until May 31, the Alvin H. Baum Family Fund will match any gift you give to Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly, up to ($25,000). Your gift of $20 will become $40. $50 will become $100, and so on. Your generous donation will be doubled, with all funds going toward transportation for the 1,300 seniors we serve.
Joel Friedman, a representative for the Baum Family Fund, summarizes the foundation's strong feelings on the subject. "Safe, accessible transportation is essential to improving the quality of life for seniors."
Please help us meet the Baum Family's challenge today. Give generously and watch your gift multiply in impact. The need is urgent, as every minute, hour and day of life is precious the amazing elders we serve. Thank you!

Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly (LBFE) Chicago Chapter brings companionship and social interaction to isolated and lonely elders. In fiscal year 2011 we served 1,303 elders, with the indispensable help of 1,459 volunteers giving more than 46,963 hours of their time.
